Southern Soccer Academy of Coastal Georgia (originally Coastal Georgia Soccer Association) was created in 1991 as a non-profit organization in an effort to organize the growing interests in soccer in the Chatham/Savannah area by a group of local soccer enthuiasts. The program began with about 400 children. The purpose for which the Association is organized includes, but is not limited to, the following: To develop and promote the game of soccer within the territory of this Association; To provide the opportunity for enjoyment and recreation through competition for all boys and girls who voluntarily participate in such a program; To promote the ideals of sportsmanship and the principals of fair play; To provide for those who desire to coach in this Association the opportunity to improve their instructional skills; To develop player skills and knowledge of the game; To provide a quality program at the best value to the participants.
