With two decades of highly successful, noteworthy history and experience, Pro-Youth / HEART, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, continues to serve youth on school campuses during the hours of 2-6 p.m., when juvenile crime is otherwise rampant. Our HEART Program cherishes the belief that giving children hope reduces youth violence and saves lives. As our most precious community resource, these youth deserve opportunities to develop strong decision making skills and to have a safe place to be during these after school hours. Through the work of 290 dedicated and well trained staff, many of whom are former HEART students, HEART youth are availing themselves of numerous educational and vocational pathways. Financial support for these wonderful programs comes from federal, state and local governmental agencies, although a substantial portion of the budget needs must be met by generous gifts from the local community. HEART (Homework, Enrichment, Acceleration, Recreation, Teamwork) is an after-school program sponsored and administrated through Pro-Youth, a non-profit agency serving the youth of Tulare County. HEART complements the learning day in the after-school hours by providing homework assistance, literacy and math training and project-based enrichment activities, free of charge, for children in grades kindergarten through 12th every day that school is in session.
