There really is never a boring day at “Huskies After-Schoolâ€. Students arrive in the cafeteria immediately after the bell rings and receive a small snack and drink. Afterwards, students can work on their homework and receive some tutoring if needed. Children are allowed to enjoy any of the games, toys, and activities that are available in the cafeteria. In addition, we often conduct science experiments, create art projects, or other educational activities. At least a few times a week, the students are led to the gym where they get to play collaboratively, practice on the climbing wall, shoot hoops, or just run around. Depending on the weather, the students get to spend some time in the playground running around and playing games.
The “Huskies After-School†program has teamed up with the AVE Learning Garden to lend a helping hand. Students have helped harvest vegetables, pull weeds, water crops, and compost. Also, students help create art projects and decorations for the school’s many community events as well as the Husky Word of the Week posters.
