The mission of Highland Park Elementary School is to select and implement a range of innovative and visionary instructional strategies and practices based upon an analysis of meaningful school data and research that best meets the needs of our students. The students will learn in a laboratory setting to acquire scientific habits of mind through investigation and experimentation. Mathematical concepts will be applied to the solution of meaningful tasks. The use of technology will be used as a tool for collecting data, locating and evaluating information, word processing and developing critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making. This mission is characterized by strong instructional leadership, and frequent monitoring of students progress from a staff understanding the need for a high level of accountability, efficiency and management effectiveness. Our belief that with individualized attention and appropriate instruction, all of our children can and will learn to be productive citizens and lifelong learners. Working collaboratively with parents and the community, we will empower our children with the skills and abilities needed to meet the challenges before them.
