Hugoton Elementary School was awarded this KRR grant in May 2014. This grant has four components to ensure that your child can reach their full reading potential by third grade. The components are summer school, in-school, after-school, and out­of­school. The programs are offered to families with children in grades kindergarten through third grade. The needs are based on testing that is implemented by the classroom teachers throughout the year. The after school program is offered Monday through Thursday after school from 3:30­5:00 pm. Students are referred by their teachers based on the continued needs of the in­school MTSS. The ASP is for children that need tutoring in reading only. There is no math component or homework help. The program is designed to help students read on­grade level by the end of third grade
