The Academy was founded in 1988 by Masters Christopher Pei and Zhang Guifeng. The main goals of the United States Wushu Academy are:

1. To cultivate character through the Academy's educational experiences
2. To provide the student with the highest quality of instruction
3. To train and produce top competition athletes for the World Games
