Kajukenbo was the very first martial art founded in the United States in the late 1940ʼs. In rural Hawaii, five masters of martial arts that included Tang Soo Do, Se Keino Ryu (Judo), Kodenkan Danzan Ryu (Jujitsu), Kosho Ryu (Kenpo Karate) and Chuʼan Fa Kung-Fu (Chainese Boxing) formed an extremely
effective and deadly mixed martial art to protect themselves and their people from the overwhelming presence of thugs, thieves and murderers in the settlements of Hawaii. As time went on, Kajukenbo took many of the formalities and spiritual wisdom found in traditional martial arts and combined it with the necessities of protecting ones self from modern criminals found on todays street. Thus the Kajukenbo Self Defense System (KSDS) was born. Lead by our founder and teacher Siju Adriano Emperado, Kajukenbo has become one of the worlds most effective self-defense systems.
