Sensei Juan Balmaceda is a certified black belt in
Shotokan Traditional Karate with the International
Traditional Karate Federation under Hidetaka
Nishiyama Sensei.
He is the founder of Poway Shotokan Karate
Academy and Traditional Karate Institute. Sensei
Juan is a direct student of the late Hidetaka
Nishiyama Sensei, Chairman of The ITKF and
founder of Japan Karate Association. Sensei Juan
has 32 years experience and he has been teaching
karate for 26 years and many years as Assistant
Instructor of Hidetaka Nishiyama Sensei at The
National Karate Institute in Los Angeles, California;
the most prestigious Karate School in the World.
Sensei Juan is currently training under the tutelage of
Sensei Albert Cheah, Vice-president of the AAKF
Board of Directors. Sensei Cheah is a respected
competitor, instructor and judge. His expert
knowledge is sought by students from around the
country who travel to his dojo in Lake Forrest, CA to
study. Sensei Juan is an active member of the AAKF
Western Region Technical Committee.

Sensei Juan is committed to spread the
understanding of authentic Traditional Shotokan
Karate.
