The Defensive Arts Dojo, located in Hamburg, NY, is an active member of the Isshinryu World Karate Association.  The school is owned and operated by Shihan Michael Downs.  Belts are awarded in Isshinryu Karate, a style brought from Okinawa.  Every style of martial arts is useful and valuable, therefore our dojo does not limit its curriculum simply to the traditional punches and kicks of Okinawa Karate.
