Aikido of Westchester

100 Mamaroneck Ave, #2, White Plains, NY
Aikido Of Westchester was founded in 1997. We are affiliated with The United States Aikido Federation and The Aikikai World Headquarters in Japan. Our purpose is to provide instruction in the martial art of Aikido according to the principles of the founder, Morihei Ueshiba.

Classes are taught 7 days a week by chief instructor Douglas Firestone, 6th Dan, Shidoin (Certified instructor). Firestone sensei has 30 years of experience in Aikido. He is a full time professional Aikido teacher, devoting all of his efforts to the instruction and advancement of the art. He also teaches at The New York Aikikai – the USAF headquarters, and continues to study under the direction of Shihan Yoshimitsu Yamada, 8th Dan, Chairman of the USAF and direct student of Morihei Ueshiba. In addition to Aikido, Firestone sensei teaches the arts of Japanese swordsmanship: Toyama Ryu Batto Jutsu, Zen Nihon Batto Do Renmei and it's equivalent, the US Batto Do Federation curriculum.

Firestone sensei's wife, Sylvie Firestone, is a 4th Dan Fuku-Shidoin and also teaches Aikido at the Westchester dojo.
